I like trains and buildings and I use Inkscape to draw models that I then cut out of MDF and put together
I enjoy the design process which usually starts with a photo or if I'm really lucky a diagram, then lots of guide lines to get proportions right.
As the design progresses more and more detail on the real life objct becomes appartent and then gets added to the design, the one issue is that locomotives often have curved body panels but a laser cutter ony cuts in 2D so this presents challenges which is usualy over come with a file or sanding
