Hi there, for some reason when I try to use calligraphy or shapes, I'll hold down the keypad and drag but when I release it, nothing appears. For shapes a bunch of small x's appear and calligraphy nothing. Anyone have any idea what's happening? I know from other drawing programs you just have to hold down the mouse/keypad/cursor and you can scale how big you want a shape, same with other tools but for some reason I think my Inkscape is broken or something.
You may need to apply a Fill or Stroke to the tool. I'd click on a swatch in the palette before dragging on the canvas. Refer to Inkscape's Tutorials and the Manual's section on attributes.
