In a large drawing I'll use the object manager to keep track of what I have selected. Especially if it is deep inside nested groups. But I often want to do 2 things:
1. Select an object on the canvas and find it in the Object manager - If the Object manager is not open, it should automatically open. - It should scroll and expand groups and layers so the objects entry is visible and selected.
2. Select an object in the Object manager and see it on the canvas - It should reframe the canvas view to include the selection.
Are either of these 2 things possible with a command?
I've used such commands in other software to save hunting and hoping in large documents. If an object is deeply nested it can sometimes be impossible to find in the Object manager.
For point 2, canvas reframe on the selection, Zoom to Selection is probably close enough. Thanks. Press 3 and it zooms in on it. Zoom is not so great if its a small object, as that becomes huge! I just need a slight reframe to bring it on to screen not a zoom. But pressing '3' then immediately '1' (for 1:1) would help in those cases.
For point 1 though, if you have a large drawing with a lot of objects and the object you select on canvas is not currently visible in the object manager, when I select an object in 1.2 it does not scrollthe object manager to reveal the selection. If you scroll it manually you can see it does actually expand the group off-screen though.

UM22.04 Inkscape 1.2
Here it works, except for automatically open. I can just drag (undock) Object Manager to screen to use other functions at same time such as align.
I have thirty images in a Tools / Clipart layer and clicking on one of the images expands the Clipart layer and highlights the image.
Secting multiple images highlights them in the Object Manager.
Selecting image in Object Manager highlights on screen but have to scroll zoom or hit one of zoom keys to bring into position.

Thanks Tyler. Yes. That's the problem.
