New to Inkscape and cannot open EPS files, even the examples within the program.I have checked out the forum, downloaded and installed Ghostscript 9.50 (the latest version), added the necessary lines in the Path within Envvironment Variables and moved them up the stack. Restarted the PC numerous times after changes, uninstalled & reinstalled both lots of software, deleted the path's and reinserted. Uninstalled, deleted, downloaded and reinstalled both software programs, all to no avail. Still get the error message, Failed to load requested file........... Looking for what I might be missing here?
Dell Inspiron 17, Intel i5 64 bit Windows 10, all up to date.
Please note, that there are two ghostscript paths (bin and lib folders) that need to be added to PATH variable.
Is there any more info than " Failed to load requested file"? Usually an error message would be printed if the ghostscript-specific part fails. Potentially your image really isn't converting properly, though (you might want to attach an example file for others to test if possible).
1) Tyler, thanks for the info the pahs are there in the cmd prompt but cannot seem to get the screen print into the reply box? Also the program files, looks like that with gs there. Will keep trying to get the screen print on
2) Patrick, yes both Ghostscrip paths are there, the pop up displays a 'No Entry' sign Failed to Load the requested file (then just shows the location of the file) no other messages.
What version of Inkscape are you using? I think I read that the ability to open EPS files has been removed from Inkscape in version 1.0, due to difficulty finding current Ghostscript downloads. Or do I have that confused with UniConverter....??
(If I have that right, either way, we probably need to edit the FAQ to reflect this.)
Tyler, thanks for the file.Failed to open with the same error message "Failed to Load the requested file C;\Users\Admin\logo-OMWeb.eps Tried both right click, open wit and open Inkscape, File Open and select file
We've been seeing some issues with permissions in Win 10 (fonts, primarily). Can you run the installer as administrator with option: "for all users", or similar?
Hi Ronnie, Perhaps this helps? I had it wrong once, and then Ghostscript didn't work, it drove me crazy until I found out I installed the 32 bits version. If your pc is 64 bits, you will need to install the 64 bits Ghostscript. If your pc is 32 bits, you will need the 32 bits version.
Hi, I really appreciate all the help provided, everything said appears as it should with my installation. It's the 64 bit set up with the 64 bit software. The path's have been set and in position. Everything was done with Admin, all to no avail. There is obviously either something up with my PC set up or I am missing something simple! However, given that all I really wanted to do was import some vectors that I purchased to alter and resize for a new web sit rather than JPEG's etc I am just going to get a friend of mine to do it and pay him for his time. Once again thanks to everybody who chipped in

Can you share a screenshot of your path? (open a cmd window and type "path" without quotes)
And also a screenshot of your Program Files/gs/ directory?

Not sure this will work, but perhaps try to open in GIMP (open source) as a workaround for now?

Attached here is an EPS file that works on my setup, to use for testing.
Brynn, I have Version 0.92.4 as Version 1 was shown as 'Beta' so I left that for now

Okee Dokee... if you feel like chasing this again sometime in the future, we'll be here.
Have a nice day.

The answer is very simple ^_^ You should reinstall inkscape with "Additionals files->Extensions" checkbox enabled.
