Hello. I am working my way through Lynda.com's Inkscape course. I am currently learning a few things about the "node tool" (Edit paths by nodes). I have a circle path selected with the node tool... the instructor explains that to delete/remove a node from the path you can press Ctrl + Delete on the keyboard, which seems to work fine.
Although, I tried out pressing just Delete and it seems to also remove the node, although the effect that the removal of this node has on the overall shape/path is different (just pressing "Delete" alone, changes the overall shape less drastically).
My question is: what is the difference between removing a node using [Ctrl + Delete] Vs just Delete ?
After posting this question... the instructor states that deleting nodes by just pressing Delete removes the node, while adjusting the adjacent segments to compensate for the "loss" of that node... hmmmm... I should probably watch the whole video before posting my questions on forums... what can I say. I'm a keen learner lol... thanks
Anyway you can permanently obtain the same behaviour using DEL only if you check the option "deleting nodes preserves shape" in Preferences/Tool/node/editing preferences.
@SaltedCashews I didnt know CTRL+Del. Thanks for posting.
@zerocinquanta I'll switch that off and see how it goes. Often it's attempts to fix the other segments breaks the next tangents, and need correcting afterwards. I might hastily put it back on though. :-)

@Ianp5a yes, of course can have some drawbacks, depending on the use and the results to obtain. Anyway, it's the same effect.
