Beginners' Questions Clipping path disappears after I convert stroke to fill

    Hi, I used to use a previous version of Inkscape on Windows 10 and I'm using the current version on Windows 11 and I've noticed that whenever I apply a clipping mask to a stroke, the mask always disappears after I select that stroke and convert it to paths. The clip doesn't release, the original clip shape just disappears. Is there anything in Preferences that I'm not finding can fix this?

    I'd try the setting to group objects:
