Hi. This sounds like extremely good news. However, I have tried - unsuccessfully - for an hour and 30 minutes - to download all flavors of the windows packages - but nothing is happening.
I have tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit possibilities, in the exe, msi, and zipped formats but no dice.
The web page states there is a download in process but nothing occurs. The same thing - nothing - when I click on the "click here" link for not getting immediate downloads.
I can easily access other websites and download their material, just not these related to the version 1.0 release. (No programs I have are blocking my access to this site, and there are no warnings, error messages, nor "please wait" type of messages.)
I am assuming the issue is from the site itself, probably because many people are trying to download from there at the same time.
Can someone confirm this? Is anyone else having difficulty/impossibility of downloading any of these windows packages?
Thank you very much for the great software and any ideas or notifications you can share with me. I am patient and eager to obtain and use this latest Inkscape version.
yes same issue here, I am getting a timeout on the server across multiple devices - I have been using inkscape for years and I am very much looking forward to V1.0 !!!
The .92 release at the MS Store had issues. I would have the IT dept. install the new .msi version. (I know, it's bad enough to have IT work on your rig, but during lockdown, maybe not gonna happen.)
I don't know who exactly ported to the MS store last time. Maybe a 3rd party did? This can happen with FOSS.
You might be able to run the new version via a flash drive (portable). I haven't tried that myself yet.
I know finances can be tight during the pandemic, but a separate computer for Inkscape can be cheap. I just installed Linux Mint and Inkscape v1.0 on an orphaned Mac Mini, and an orphaned Win7 machine.
I'm still using .092.xx for most things... there are extensions I use that are not yet available on v1.0.
After only a week of trying to use 1.0, I uninstalled it and went back to .92. Between freezing when trying to upload .eps files to randomly crashing, 1.0 was just too unreliable for me to continue using. It's a shame because I did like the new features.
1.0.1 will be released within a couple weeks with lots of crash fixes, @KJoHuink . Developers have been focusing on stability lately, it's possible that your main issues are already fixed, so I would recommend you test it (or a development version of 1.0.x).
If they're not, please open a (or multiple) bug report(s) at https://inkscape.org/report

All the best to you.
I'm having the exact same issue here.
This is a known issue, I'm monitoring the situation and seeing what I can do to speed up the transition.
Megafont and Martin, thank you both for the updates. You both have a good day. I will try again tommorrow.
Thank you so much. Been going through the same thing and I will look forward to this new version.

Thank you for this major improvements!!
Hi,
Thanks for the great work!
Could you please also release it on Microsoft Store ? It is still version 0.92 there.
Unfortunately, on my work computer, I am only allowed to install software from the Store.
Thanks again

It was Marc together with help from Microsoft. And he would do a store release, but doesn't have access to the work computer currently, due to Corona.
