How might I trace around just the very outside of a complex shape, perhaps consisting of multiple paths, with a thin red line?Basically, I want to laser cut around the outline of the entire shape.Changing stroke settings doesn't do it: then I am cutting wildly *inside* the shape as well.Does it have something to do with masking?I've looked through Inkscape help and forums for a few hours and can't make heads or tails of anything. Thank you for your help!
Select everything - then Duplicate - go Path->Stroke to Path - then Path->Union - then Path->Break Apart - then Path->Union again - kill fill color - set stroke color - Path->Outset if needed: cyan
Thank you for this post. It helped me take a complex image of paths and make a mask for another layer.
