Using Inkscape with Cutters/Plotters Small drag lines between drawn entities

With my plotter I am experiencing small drag lines between drawn entities.  If these entities are close together it can appear as a drawn line where there isn't supposed to be one and if they're far apart it's just a small trail leading towards where the next path is to be drawn.
My main goal right now is to have the plotter draw my own handwriting so, of course, the drag line looks like it is connecting separate letters.

I have tried to remedy this with pen height in the holder.  That didn't really work, the pen seems to be at a fine level(too low it does the same thing, too high it's not drawing).
I have treid to remedy this with speed controls on the plotter(for mine I tried changing "junction deviation", "step pulse time", and " $120/$121 which are the x/y axis speed controls thinking it would slow down x/y movement while lifting and not drag towards the next path to draw)

However, I'm still having this issue.  I'm new to this, so any help is appreciated.  It seems like having an extra step when z movement is activated to finish z movement or, at least, extend the time before x/y movement would help?

    Thanks in advance!!
