    Hi :)

I would like to create a frame around some letters that is following the shape of those letters. I want the frame to be around the word as a whole, not every letter on it's own (I'll upload an example to this post). I have already added the font I want to use to Inkscape and created the word including the nodes. Can someone tell me the easiest way to add the frame?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. If (I guess you did)  you have already converted the text to path, splitted it, reverted the s and n letters : then select all and do path > combine.
    2. If not (your font has already reverted s and n) : select text and do path > object to path.
    • Now, do path > linked offset. This creates a new object : you can see it in object panel with a round icon : remove its fill, set a black stroke.
    • With node tool, move the unique diamond handle to set the offset.
    • If offset creates unwanted additional bits, don't care (see *)
    • Choose right stroke width and then do object > object to path.

    * If you have small unwanted bits : after converting linked offset to path, break it apart, then with object panel, select each created path, press numpad 3 key to zoom on selected object, and delete it if unwanted (del).

    • Finally select the frame and do object > stroke to path and clic + select text to select both and do path > combine.
