I was having trouble uploading to cricut.  I found a youtube video which explained how to make the background transparent in inkscape.  To do this I had to set the alpha channel to zero. It then worked in cricut. I saved that as the default.

Now, as the file attached shows, when I try to make a stroke it is showing as gray. When I  try to put it into a blank file, and try to change the dimensions, it creates a series of horizontal stripes.  However shapes seem to work fine.

When I go to document properties in the latest version I cannot see the alpha control -- if that is the problem.

    How do I fix this?

The group is O=100 but its content (ungroup to check) is at O=30%.

I do not understand this reply.  Should I repost under "beginners?"

This is the most appropriate forum, as other Cricut users may have comments to share.

    Hi there,

it would be handy if you could share a document with us (see the small paper clip icon under the comment box). This way we can have a look at your .svg file and see what's wrong.

First thing that pops to mind, is that you also have to make sure in the document settings that the paper has a full transparency. (shift-ctrl-D)
