I   added a few patterns to the Inkscape pattern repository.   I want to remove one pattern of mine but cannot find a way to do it.  Going to the patterns.svg file is impractical because of its endless codes list.  Document cleanup doesn't seem to do anything.  Is there a way to clean up the Fill & Stroke pattern list?

Can you re-explain how you added the pattern? Did you modify the patterns.svg file? Because that's the only way that the file can change.

Probably you still have objects using the pattern in your drawing, if

- you did not modify the patterns file and
- document cleanup doesn't work.

If you cannot find the objects in your drawing, feel free to share a file.
