Hi there! I typically don't need to post within this forum because I usually find answers to my questions quite easily, however, I am not finding anything that could possibly help with my issue today.
On 7/19/23 I updated to 1.2.2. and I am using a MacBook Air with OS Monterey. (Forgive me if that is not the correct way to give the Inkscape version.) I decided to update because my previous version was having issues with crashing when I would need more than one file open. I have not had any issues the last couple of weeks until today. It will take about 5 tries to get one file opened. Sometimes it will crash almost immediately upon launching or sometimes I get past launching, but then when I simply highlight a file to open, it will crash. The crashing has no rhyme or reason because it does not always happen when only attempting to open a file.
Is there something I need to do to try and fix this? Do I need to submit an official "bug" report?
Like I said above, I don't usually post so I might not be asking my question correctly.
@janicebell replied to this thread on 7/27/23 and I replied to that comment...both of which are now deleted...why?? This is so strange!
Anyways...she offered me some advice, which I looked into. I updated as many things as I possibly could per her info, but that did not help. I have resorted to a previous version of Inkscape (1.1.1) on my MacBook Air and at least now I can open a file without it crashing. I guess time will tell if it crashes again when I need to open multiple files at the same time.
Mac OS 12.7.1 -- crashes with wither file open or file import. Have to force quit. Reinstalled but still fails. There is no visible Preference.xml. Out of ideas. Tks.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! Dee
Well...I see that this has already been posted/sent, but it did not populate when I looked for it prior to my post above: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/8914
I will wait to see if a fix is issued. Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue.
Thanks! Dee

janicebell was a chatbot that slipped in.
Well...that chatbot is the only "person" who offered help...at least for my issue. 🤷♀️
I suggest adding your info to the bug report.
You find a solution to this problem? I'm on MacOS Sonoma and it keeps crashing
