I'm an absolute beginner at this but tired to find an answer but couldn't paste it together. So the goal is to create a triangle pointing to the left where some text will start in the triangle and end to the right.
Something like this where the 'L' character is withing the triangle and the 'i" character on the closing line of the triangle.
< L i text....
Creating the triangle was successful while following this guide. I now have a perfect triangle where I try to cut out a piece on the right to have the text in its place. In attachment a picture where you can see 2 black lines that are correctly distributed and where I try to cut the image in 3 pieces, so the middle fuchsia line can be removed (between the black lines).
Following this tutorial I tried to go to Path > Division but ti doesn't split it up.
What is the correct way to have this middle piece removed? And possibly have the letter i in it's place?
I've add the inkscape file in attachment for clarificaiton.
(1) Turn the triangle into a path -- Path >> Object to Path (2) Use F2 ("Edit path by nodes") (3) Select (click on) the vertical side of the triangle (the side to be broken) (4) Click the first header-bar symbol for the node editor ("Insert new nodes into selected segment") (5) Repeat
You should now have three new nodes on the vertical line. Call them A, B, and C.
(6) Select the top node (A) and use the keyboard cursor keys to raise or lower it (7) Do the same with the bottom node (C), using the opposite cursor keys (8) Select the line segment AB and click on "Delete segment" symbol -- seventh from the left on the node edit bar (9) Select the line segment BC and click on "Delete segment" symbol -- seventh from the left on the node edit bar

Thank you for any help you could give me.

Guess what "Cut Path" is for:
@PixelPest that is exactly what I need! Sorry for getting back this late, but was a bit busy with other stuff. Small quesiton:
- How do you set the horizontal grid line where you start drawing the triangle from?

Awesome! Thank you very much!
Here´s another quick method:
