I have a document that I would like to hide part of a point of a star behind something else. I am not sure what the correct terminology would be or I would look it up online as I am sure there is a youtube video about it. I have a blue background with a grey border. One the blue background I have a white star and I want some of the star hidden behind the gray border, if that makes any sense.
You can make the shape with the grey stroke and blue fill (given it´s one object) a so called "Clip Group" by selecting and rightclick->Set Clip Group - now arrange in Objects and Layers tab as in the gif:
If that´s not an option as it propbly don´t work in a web-browser you can duplicate the shape and select with the star and go Path->Intersection.
Maybe all you need is to change the z-order or stacking order. With the Select tool [s], select the shape you wish to conceal then [Object > Lower to Bottom] . There's also a button in the tool control bar with the hint [Lower selection to bottom].
