Beginners' Questions Does it exist a repository for downloading older versions of inskcape?

    I tried to download inkscape 0.91 the other day but I couldn't. The progress bar on chrome got stuck at very early and it didn't moved. Thus I suspect it was due that servers assigned to my location might be too busy?. I am in Peru by the way. So I am wondering if it does exist some mirrors from which I could try to download that version. The version which I was trying to download was the windows installer but as indicated above the download couldn't finish. Does inkscape has a page on github?. Again, it would be nice if there were some mirrors based on different locations from which I could try to download, either the windows installer or the compressed or portable files. Could someone guide me on where could I look for those?. Thanks in advance.

    I found what you mean, but this doesn't addresses my problem. The thing is that when I want to download for example version 0.91 for the 64 bit windows, the download doesn't start sometimes and when it does the progress bar in chrome or any other browser just advances little and gets stuck.

    This problem is not on my end, my connection is good and all that. I am asking for alternate mirrors which would be less congested according to my location. Does there exist those?. I am asking this specifically please.

    I found this other website which says repository, but I don't know if this is linked to the same server for all of the versions.

    https://repology.org/metapackage/inkscape/versions

    There are version numbers listed but I can't find exactly which would be a compiled windows version like the one I mentioned above. Thus, can someone help me with more details please?.

    There´s no connection to the Inkscape project for the link you´ve posted.

    If you´re having trouble to download what you need please report here: https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/team_website

    Thanks.

    Well yesterday I was able to download the current stable version for the Windows 64 bit systems. I has a bit of concerned that 0.91 version will not work on Windows 10, as the intended computer was running that OS. Is there any way to check this?. I mean from which version Windows 10 is supported?

    My second question comes from something I didn't like in the current version. Is there a way to disable that welcome screen which directs me to selecting three choices?. Coming from 0.91 there was no welcome screen and the software just opened a new sheet right away. I just want that back.

    Then I found that I couldn't locate the zoom in icon in the vertical left toolbar. This was hidden and I had to click on the bottom arrow in the toolbar to access to it. Does it exist a way to move it to the top so this icon can be shown?. I tend to use it mostly. Is there also a shortcut for this?. Help with these questions, anyone?.

    For the Welcome screen go Preferences->Interface->Windows: Miscellaneous and disable "Show Welcome dialog".

    Zoom icons are gone - no idea if they will come back. On macOS the scroll-wheel zoom is borked. 😢

    I would avoid using earlier versions of Inkscape... much has changed. For very specific uses, maybe it can be useful.

    The zoom tool can be exposed and the order of all the tools can be changed by modifying the toolbar-tool.ui file, found in the Inkscape program files.

    The zoom buttons in the commands bar will be back soon.

    @Polygon
    How about the shortcut key or command to call the zoom in and zoom out?. Is it hitting the plus sign in my keyboard?. Or is it another combination?

    Again, does anyone know from which version Inkscape supports Windows 10 or should run with no problems?. I mean no missing dll or that sort of stuff. Will 0.91 run in Windows 10 with no problems?. I haven't read all the releases history so I can't tell. Please confirm or correct me with that information.

    @TylerDurden

    My very first time with Inkscape was in 2006. I can't remember which version was the current at the time.

    Havent' used that much then. But resumed in 2015. Because the 32-bit portable 0.91 runs almost fine in my underpowered notebook and I learned to do different things with it. I came accustomed to it, and since I didn't really needed or perhaps figured that other tools appeared after I didn't felt the need to update. Perhaps until now, as I am migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 10. That's the reason why I am insisting so much in knowing from which version it is okay to be used on Windows 10.

    I didn't know that the icons could be made shown again. I don't know which part of that file should be changed for that. But since you mention that those would return, does this means will it be on 1.2?

    Btw I like your current avatar

    The changes since .91 are very significant, because the SVG standard has changed (since 2017).

    Attached is the .ui file you can use to replace the toolbar-tool.ui file, to have the Zoom and Measure tools near the top again. (This only works in the 1.0+ versions)

    Inkscape Help menu has the keyboard shortcuts. +, - for zoom, and more.

    Yes, the beloved command-bar's zoom buttons will re-appear in 1.2.
