I have a shape that I am looking to separate parts of it ,now I wasn't to separate just the are that 3 of the nodes cover. Is there a way to just select the 3 nodes in question and have that section be separated from the rest of the shape ?
Yes - that´s possible via Copy+Paste - but if there´s a fill color applied it will run straight from start to end node:
