Is it possible to cut out a section of an imported image, as opposed to using Clip?
I'm using a lot of images in the process of drafting a SailGP F50 catamaran, and it would be useful to cut out a small detail I'm interested in from a large image, rather than retaining the full image and using Clip.
There is a crop extension for images, but I would highly recommend using Gimp. The combination of Gimp and Inkscape is very powerful, particularly when using linked images.

Thanks Tyler, will take your advice.
Cheers, Max
Go after Clip=Set to: Edit->Make Bitmap Copy. There you have it. ;-) plus the original image will stay alive.
^^This is legit too. Check that the copy bitmap settings are adequate resolution in the Preferences.
@PixelPest Would you mind explaining how you do the "Clip=Set to: Edit->Make Bitmap Copy" ?
That sounds like it would suffice for what I do, but I can't find anything like this in Preferences?
Hi Max.
It's not in the preferences; First make Object->Clip->Set then as I said go Edit->Make a Bitmap Copy:
Great, got it now, thank you! Still have a lot to learn. 🙂
Welcome aboard. ;-)
Thanks, I'm really enjoying Inkscape, quite awesome for the design/drafting sort of thing I like doing.
Than you're most likely on Windows or Linux. ;-)
