Grammar and spelling errors, consistency concerns, etc.
Whether specific parts belong in the Beginner’s Guide (for example, not including too technical details relating to the XML and how SVG works)
Whether the functionality is explained in a way that most people could understand (not assuming a technical or graphics background)
Whether undocumented functionality or workarounds are mentioned (e.g. Focal Points in gradients, Shift+X to switch fill and stroke colors, platform-specific quirks like Extensions → Export → Win32 Vector Print)
Whether examples are given when needed (in the form of prose or figures)
Other things that need inclusion/omitting
For the figures:
Whether the text are vectorized (easily missed)
Accidental shapes or color combinations that offends people (cultural concerns)
If you have time please pick a chapter and read through it to see whether you can follow it easily. You can comment your feedback here or if you have a GitLab account, there is a merge request for each chapter I updated. If you have any problem during the proofreading please tell me!
I’m making sure I’m going in the right direction, so any review would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
Beginner’s Guide - I don't think it is too technical. In fact, I wish I understood these concepts 12 years ago.
Symbols? Maybe I just couldn't find my favorite feature of Inkscape. 🤣
Amazing work on this. Thank you and the team that worked on this.
"It is also a good choice for drawing short comics, making art, building user interface mockups and making or editing diagrams created by other software. People use it for fun projects, such as map-making, creating birthday cards, painting on eggs, 2D game graphics and for many, many more purposes."
You might be amazed how many CAD/CAM (laser, CNC, Cricut, machinist, technicians, 3D designers/animators) users that use Inkscape on a daily basis.
I'd mention that for inkscape, 0° , unlike compasses, refers to 3 o'clock and not 12. This is counterintuitive. I remember that there is an option in preferences to alter this behavior, but it did never work for me.
@COD Thanks for the review! CAD/CAM use was mentioned in the foreword but I guess it's worth mentioning once more here :) Symbols come at a much later chapter though, when that eventually comes around I'll see what could be added. For the Edge 3D - which chapter is that in?
Hi! I’m currently in the process of updating the official Beginner’s Guide (my testing branch with all the changes) to the latest version (1.4), and I’d like some help with the proofreading. There are a number of new chapters:
I also updated all the chapters in sections “Introduction”, “Setting Up Inkscape” and “First Steps”. They are:
What I’d like feedback on:

63.1.4 Edge 3D
That extension doesn't exist in v1.4 (at least in the Windows version). Maybe v1.4.1?
Congratulations for this hudge work.

I'd mention the possibility to modifiy Highlight color of some objects or of layers. Handy to highlight one specific object.
