Community Café Feature Request - Open and Save dialogs

I know this is a very basic thing, but it actually throws me off course when I'm working: I'd like to request that a switch be added to the preferences to favour standard Windows open and save dialog boxes, rather than the Adobe-esque (quite horrible, to be frank) boxes that are in place, presently.

I find that the fact that the drive structure is hidden away slows down the process, of finding and saving SVG documents that are saved throughout the many projects that I'm involved in. Some of them are on UNC shared folders, some on any of my internal drives and some on USB drives. Every other program I use (except Adobe stuff, of course!), uses the standard Windows dialog boxes.

Obviously, there are going to be those who prefer the current approach, as it fits more in with their work practice, so I'm not asking that it be removed, just an option to allow users to switch between.

Apologies in advance if this has been asked before (don't mind if you remove the question).

    +1

This troubles me as well. My usual workflow to copy/pase open/save paths cannot be applied with the current boxes.

Yah... cheers I had the same thought.

Typically I use the favorites in the Windows Open / Save dialogues but Inkscape doesn't do that.

The way I'm getting around this is I open an explorer window <Windows Key> E and the go to where I want to open or save.
Then I copy the path into the filename of the Inkscape Open/Save dialogue.  It will change into that folder and keep the filename.

A workaround but keeps us going for now.

Also on the dev side I've worked on code where it had C++ cross platform dialogues.  We used this github library:
    https://github.com/aarcangeli/nativefiledialog-cmake

Seemed to work pretty well and does the more standard dialogues... just passing it along in case it's useful.

Uh! Nice! Didn't know that I could paste the path into the file name field. Thanks!
