It seems to me that since the current version of Inkscape, objects do not remain selected in the 'Layers and Objects' dialog. When it's a few-item job, it hardly matters, but when it's a many-item job, not knowing which object is selected using 'Layers and Objects' is a big problem. Maybe I'm missing some settings? I would appreciate any response. Attached is a sample GIF.

Not replicated here. Inkscape 1.2.2 (1:1.2.2+202212051552+b0a8486541) OS version: Linux Mint 21
