Hello. I just learned about inkspace and just joined the forum. I have no idea how to use the software so, achieving what I want is impossible at this point. I use MaciOS, in case that makes a difference. So, the file I am trying to create consists of a simple circle that upon cutting will have tabs that will remain attached but will also have a portion of the center cut out. I only need to create one, then I can duplicate it in the cricut canva area to make the bases I need. Hopefully the picture can help make sense of what I am trying to make. Thank you
Correct. The shape is very simple. The rectangle is cut away as the tabs needs to be only 3/8" in height. So, in the images above the 4th on the top row is almost perfect, except that it seems that the distance between the tab and the circle itself would cut out and thus creating the same mess I have now. Ideally I would have an image that cuts without any small particles. The rectangle area cuts out entirely so it is just one piece. Does that make sense? How did you do the 4th top row image? Thank you so much for your reply.
I am doing better, but when I reduce the size, I am having a hard time using the nodes tools to accomplish the half circle to fit properly. I have a circle of the size of the opening as a guide. This way I know the finished product will have the correct measurements. How do I use the node tools to adjust each individual side?
I think I did it! O my I am so excited. Now to the final test. I want to save it and then upload in cricut to make a trial run. How do I go about saving it as a SVG and then downloading it? I actually need only the circle itself, as I will duplicate it to add to the different sizes bases I have. Thank you so much
As for every editor simply go to file menu and save_as what you want. Inkscape can generate 3 types of SVG files: Some are full of technical information, while others contain only the bare essentials. Unfortunately, I don't know what Cricut prefers.
Thank you. I saved it the most basic format and it uploaded perfectly well. I ran a small cut test and it worked like a charm. Thank you so much for your help.

The shape seems quite simple even though I´m not 100% sure about the "rectangular" shape - if it has to be inside or proud of the semi circles:

Let´s see if this will help: First step is Path->Object to Path - then delete segments - then Path->Combine:
Wow. Thank you so much. I will follow your tutorial and hopefully I can do it. This is truly helpful.
Ok. Question. The pink circle. Is that 2 half circles? I do not even know how to make it clear like yours? Oh, sorry fr my complete ignorance.
Check out the options in the upper toolbar when different tools are enabled:
Thanks again. I am practicing make the semi circle. I may have more questions, but want to practice this first

Maybe Try the Selector tool instead with shift+ctrl to scale from the center if you wish - or use the entry fields when circle tool is active.

Thank you so very much. I uploaded the file in Cricut and ran a small test and the result is a perfect 10! Thanks again.
