    Hello. Once you use the Bend Path effect, a horizontal "bend line" appears. While in the Node tool (F2) you can select both nodes on that bend line and add additional nodes. Also, you can click anywhere on that bend line and add extra nodes. You can change any of these nodes to smooth, symmetrical, or auto smooth. Having done this gives you additional control as you bend your path.

    And you can "lock" in your bends by pressing Path > Object to Path. You can make a series of bends by applying the Bend Path effect this way, then applying Path > Object to Path, and repeating these steps over and over again.

    You can even do these steps with Text objects that have been converted to Paths, then Ungrouped, and then converted to Paths.

    (By the way, you can add extra nodes also while using the Envelope Deformation Path effect, too.)
