I did a search before posting, and didnt come up with anything. I have never used Inkscape and wanted to try it, I downloaded the latest version 1.1.1, got the .dmg, and was able to open it, but when I try to install it it just sits there saying "Preparing to copy to "Applications"" and never gets farther than that. Can someone help me? I am new to this site and didnt see a tech support page.
Then you opened the dmg and dragged "Inkscape.app" onto the "Application" Alias folder? Do you have enough space left on your HD? Inkscape will occupy more than 500MB disc space.
Yes, got it there (still have the tab open) opened the dmg, dragged it to the alias, and as of right now it is still sitting there saying "Preparing to copy "Inkscape" at the bottom and "Preparing to copy to "Applications" at the top of the loading bar. And I have a 1TB hard drive with 340gb of available space.
Eject dmg - put in trash and empty trash. Please download a fresh copy from URL above and try again to install as above. I assume application folder is on the internal HD.
yes it is, Ok, I will try again, I have already ejected and trashed and emptied trash and downloaded a new file twice, maybe a third times a charm. I will comment back if it still doesnt work a 3rd time.
I cleaned out everything, emptied the trash, removed all traces of it. Clicked the exact link you posted and went through the install and it has been sitting at the same message "Preparing to copy to "Applications"" since yesterday. I think I need actual tech support.
Even on Inkscape-dev-chat channel no one came across this message.
Can you try to drag the Inkscape.app from the open dmg to another location like desktop or home directory for instance? Is there any special case/letters (language based) in the path to your application folder?

Never came across this "message" and running Inkscape on Macs since 2004.
To be clear: You got the Inkscape-1.1.1.dmg from here: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.1.1/
