I've had a look through all the documentation, searched the forums and can't find any relevant information.
Several search items that looked promising, led to expired domain pages.
I want to create a re-useable template to create playing card designs, but I can't find any information about creating a new template and there doesn't appear to be a repository of templates. I find it odd that no one has created such a template.
I saw one line of text that appeared promising, It said make the document you want and save it as a template. My question about that is, why would I save it as a template? Why wouldn't I just save the document and reuse it? What is the point of saving a regular document as a template?
A template is much like saving as a document, but it will be found in the Inkscape dropdown menu, rather than navigating to the document and opening it and saving as a new document.
Documents opened from a template will be unsaved new documents.

What *is* a template?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you Tyler.
Your response was quick, knowledgable and informative as usual.
Someone should hire you for big bucks to write some proper documentation for this behemoth!
Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words. :)
It's a team effort here, and many will chip in.
Documentation is like tracking a moving target, I prefer the fora for timely information.
