Hi! I tried to find the solution to my problem browsing the web, to no avail. The problem is, if I click on Text-->Text and font the panel pops up on the right side, but all the fonts (I've got about 2000 installed on my laptop) show the same generic preview character. Same with the drop down menu. Even if I click on any of them, the bigger preview at the bottom of the panel stays always the same. If I type a text and click on "apply" the text changes to the required character but the preview is completely useless. It's a shame as this option would be such a great help. I found a couple of topics on the net where other users described the same problem but no one could find a solution so far. I had the same problem with the beta version. I'm using Win11 Home edition, 13th gen i7, 16GB RAM if that matters.

Consider resetting Inkscapeβs Preferences and restart Inkscape.
PS.: from what I read it seems necessary to uninstall former Inkscape version before install 1.4.
@Tomtattoo DidΒ you find how to fix this? I hate it!
