Hello, because I can't find Inkscape's email to ask them this question directly, I'll ask the forum. I'm new here and don't know if this is the correct category for this question. Anyway, does Inkscape use AI (Artificial Intelligence)? I have Illustrator, but I decided it's time to let it go due to AI. If it's possible, I want to use a software that doesn't use AI.
There was an announcement related to this. Adobe started using all your files from creative cloud to train their ai. Makes sense since photoshop has some neat prompt generative image features which needs input.
It made many adobe users change tools and the inkscape team came up with this:
And as a followup announcement we still asked for your files to develop better illustrator importing...
Honestly speaking the trace bitmap function would definitely benefit from machine learning yet there isn't an incentive in the development to integrate those technologies.
As Doctormo pointed out not so long ago ai isn't really developed for vectorgraphics. Not sure what features of illustrator uses ai that is worrying.
Inkscape doesn't store your documents on their cloud. They simply don't have nor will ever have the resources to do so.
No user data is ever transmitted to the Inkscape organization. Again they never will.
It is not a private company or a corporation. It is a non-profit organization. It relies on volunteers and public funding - basically your financial donations.
AI requires a tremendous amount of money to develop. That would be impossible for Inkscape to develop without crowd sourcing and hiring contractors. Not going to happen in your life time.
