I advise to add XMPP capabilities for Inkscape, in order to facilitate the functionality of collaboration and teaching.
This is discussed constantly over XMPP, yet, due to the lack of graphical features of current plugins, which are too basic for experienced designers, this feature is not at its full potential.
Several clients have the feature whiteboard, yet it might be more sensible to have graphical-first software, such as Inkscape, to have that feature, instead (or in addition) of adding it to chat software.
Perhaps developers of The GIMP and Scribus would want to participate in creating this feature .
I suppose, that the best fashion would be with a client daemon.

I have posted an article with a reference to potential projects.
