Beginners' Questions text on bottom outside of circular path

Hello all, new to Inkscape but many decades of Canvas use. I've searched the forum for this, as well as online tutorials, no clear answers. I'm designing a graphic in which there will be two lines of text, one on top and one on bottom of a circular path, both reading left to right. All the solutions I've found so far involve flipping the bottom text vertically and then rotating it back to the bottom, but in this case the text is now on the inside of the circular path instead of outside (why? is a separate question). I can convert the text to a path and then resize it to fit the outside path but then the text is a different font size than the top (original). It doesn't seem to me like this should be an unsolvable (or uncommon) task, but I just can't seem to figure it out. Looking for suggestions. Thank you for your help! Inkscape 1.4 for Mac OS 12.7

    Probably lie this? https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/problem-placing-text-on-a-line/

Hmm well "H" is a nice quick trick but it puts the text inside the circle as well. I can't find vertical kerning anywhere in the text and font tab or on a search in Inkscape or Google so I'm not sure how to do that. I'd be happy to try it if I could

Depends on your screensize if it´s showing up directly or hidden in an expandable menu:

    Here's my suggestion.

I should have increased letter spacing in the lower text.

I'm not really following, I can get to the third step but no further. Maybe it's a Mac keyboard issue?

I agree. Step 3 is not as clear as it could be. Hopefully this helps.

I'm not getting there. When I control click that lower handle the semicircle and text path get proportionally larger or smaller, but the text remains on the inside, it doesn't switch to the outside like yours does.

It works for me. Are you sure the text is linked to the semicircle?

OK, I see what you're doing (thank you), and that does function as described. However, that approach does change the arc of the text, probably not enough to be noticeable in this context but if you really crank down or up on it you'll see what I mean. Nonetheless this can work and thanks for your patience!!!

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all the great input. What I was doing was making a second circle the diameter of the first plus the upper text, then putting the lower text on the second circle, getting it oriented correctly (albeit on the inside), superimposing them then unioning the lot. Now, thanks to Polygon, I can just duplicate the original circle and use Vert. Kerning, which I didn't know even existed!

    Very many thanks.
