I recently purchased a new computer and downloaded Inkscape onto it. I am trying to fine tune this version to what my older version of Inkscape was like. But there are a couple of things I can't figure out.
On my older version, I was able to select one object, the dominant object, then select another object. When I would go to vertically or horizontally align the second object it would align itself in relation to the first object. The first object would not move.
Now when I try to do this not only do both objects move in relation to each other, they also move to where the canvas is located, regardless of where the objects are located on the screen.
I am hoping this has something to do with my preferences but I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the Align dialog box, what is selected in the "relative to" drop down menu ?
It was selected to "Page". I changed it to what I wanted which is "First Selected". Thank you for your help.
