Context: Surface Pro 8 with Windows 11 and Inkscape 1.42.
Is there a way to make Inkscape more touch screen friendly? Specifically:
1. Disable "touch painting" in Inkscapre. Meaning, even if a pen tool is selected in Inkscape, using your fingers on the canvas does not paint anything, but rather touch can be used to rotate and zoom the canvas. This is how I have Krita configured and it works wonders in terms of workflow - not having to rely on mouse but rather just using my hands for moving/adjusting the canvas and my pen for drawing etc. For example, Krita has a preference that can be disabled: "Enable Touch Painting", and also one that can be enabled "Enable Touch Rotation". There's also a setting WIn 11 I did in combination with Krita settings to achieve the result that works like I described above - its like real drawing on paper.
2. Something akin to aPop-up Palette in Krita, where double tapping the canvas brings up shortcuts to tools/brushes, colors, etc.
3. Full screen canvas mode: I saw a full screen mode in Inkscape, but it still shows all the menus, buttons, etc. Is there something like a canvas full screen mode where all you see is the canvas and the canvas takes up the entire screen? I find it more useful to use shortcuts - its less distracting to just have the canvas (combined with shortcuts and the pop-up palette above).
Not trying to suggest making Inkscape like Krita, I just found these features most helpful from a touch tablet point of view and also a workflow point of view. Plus it kinda aligns with the Inkscape motto: "Draw Freely" ;-)
