Beginners' Questions Redrawing a square frame into a round one

    Hello,
I'm new here and this is my first question ever. I have a bit complicated assignment and I don't know how to do it. I have been provided with a frame see attached file which is square and is made up of many segments. This frame is universal from the svg file. I should remake it into a round frame with the same pattern. Unfortunately, even though I searched various tutorials on youtube, none were able to help me the way I need. Probably the closest was this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OiiGWZe080 , but I couldn't get the color gradients to line up properly. I am attaching the file as an attachment and would be grateful for any advice. I should point out that I am a beginner in Inkscape. I'm using version 1.3.2 on windows 10.

    👍

I ´d try LPE „Bend“ - but you need all three color segments in a row first. Will come back on this in a few hours when in studio.

Here is how it works: length of pattern and circle circumference are identical:

The pattern should fit into a rectangle for a seamless appearance. "Grey" is just for a better reading; color can be adjusted at any time.

Thank you for your help. That's exactly it! Would you be willing to give me a step-by-step write-up of how I get to the result?

    👍👍

Quick version: Draw a white rectangle for the whole white part and arrange so many blue+red objects to get a good amount for bending around the circle; lock the aspect ratio and scale to e.g 250mm - make a group out of the pattern.

Draw a circle, convert with object to path; dimensions are 250/π(3.14)=79,6 - copy the circle

Select group and call Path->Effects=Bend and hit the button where it says: "Link to Path in Clipboard" - done - to reverse the sequence type "-1" at Width:

Some odd reason, I tried to do this, but it didn't work.

There’s something odd in the “East“ - but looking good so far. 😀

Is there a way to apply multiple colors at one to this?

Yes - as you can see in the above example. Check reply#6.

I still have a little problem with the ending. But I think I'll figure that out.

    👍

The trick is to make the Pattern a rectangle:
