Beginners' Questions Printing an Inkscape drawing from PDF (via Adobe Reader) gave different line formats to those formats used in the origin

I have made some of simple line drawings that each consists of 3 line types. The straight and curved lines are either a 1mm plain black line, a 1mm dashed black or grey line or a 1mm longer-dashed line. I have checked that within each group exactly the same line formats are used. They all appear perfekt on screen. Because they are large drawings (outlines really) I export them from Inkscape as a .pdf and then take those files to another computer, read them on Adobe Reader and send them to print on a large format printer.

My issue is that on the print out, each 'group' of line drawings printed out differently! For example, one group had only ~0.5mm thick solid black lines where there should have been either 1mm thick and/or 1mm thick dashed lines. Another had 1mm thick plain lines with 1mm tiny dashed (definitely not the format seen on screen). etc...

The printer I am using is a HP Designjet 500, 42 inch.

Does 'grouping'Β  the individual line drawings together (I simple group them so that I can move them around!) make a difference to how they print out, maybe?

I've printed them out on other printers before (print shop) and never had this issue before.

Many thanks in advance to any one who might shed some light on why I'm getting different lines compared to what I originally formatted.

    Thank you, Jen

Can you share small example files of the svg and resulting pdf?

Β We have a HP DesignJet 800 PS at the shop. I can ask around if anyone has had a similar issue.
