I am trying to cut letter out of wood, I have all but forgot the letter A and I dont want the middle to fall out. I am typing my lettter, then I blow it up select the letter, go to path to object, then I go to view make it outlined, then I draw my little square/rectangle, then I select the letter , then I do Shift and clikck on outside linne of letter A then I go to path difference and nothing is happening????? Like I said I did all the letters but somehow forgot the letter A? Can someone explain what I might be doing wrong? I would greatly appreciate any help you can send my way.
I have read the code of conduct? All I am doing is asking a question, as I have watched severlal tutorial on it and the path difference doesn't see to be working? If I am not in the right place just let me kow? I am not sue where I should post.

I'm afraid I can't tell from the DOCX file what the problem might. Could you please share the SVG file?
My best guess, is maybe the letter A is in a group, and that's why it is not working? Or maybe you accidentally did not have the right objects selected, when you tried the Difference?
We can only guess, unless we can see the svg file.
Yes, I have attached the file, It was one I made myself? I would appreciate any help, like I said I did D,G,O,P,Q,R with no problems. I have watched the video at least 5 times and have done step for step? I thank you in advianc
Aah yes. The problem is a group. And more than that, you have managed to enter the group, and saved the file while you're inside the group. And since there's nothing else in the file, you have no clue how to get out - assuming you could figure out where you are in the first place. (I wish developers could find a way to prevent this situation, because it's terribly confusing for new users. And it's way too easy to stumble into it.)
If you want the explanation, I'm happy to give it to you, just let me know. But for now, here's how to get out of it.
Either open the Layers dialog, or use the Layers indication area in the status bar, and click on "Layer 1". That gets you out of the group.
If anything is selected, deselect everything.
Now click on the letter, and you can see that both letter As and the blue rectangles are in a Group of 4.
I have a similar problem, even though I have to make a path difference between one letter and one rectangular, I always have to ungroup them even though I DIDN'T group them, It's really confusing, because I ve tried several times and it s the same problem and I'm thinking maybe I changed something in settings to automatically group everything ? Is that possible ?

When text is converted to a path all the letters are placed in a group, even if it's just one letter.
Thank you so much 🙂, it finally makes sense..
