I created an image in Inkscape. On the screen it is 101 X 101 Pixels in dimension. I want to save it to a png file with the dimensions of 96 X 96 Pixels.

So in Inscape on the menu I select the file Export option, I then set my cursor in the Width box and change that to 96 Pixels, now if I tab to the height box and change that size, it will change my Width size that I set to 96 pixels previously. It is like a cruel joke, over and over again. Even if I don't tab, if I use the mouse click to click into the height text box, then the width will change. Attached is a screen snapshot of what I am talking about. The screen snapshot shows a width of 93 Pixels, and a height of 97 pixels.

It's really important that I am able to save the images so that they are of dimension 96 X 96 Pixels, so how can I do that? Your help is appreciated.

There are several tabs in the export dialog to select what you want to export:
[Document] ignores the page boundary and exports every object in your document,
[Page] exports the entire page, ignoring objects outside the page boundary,
[Selection] exports the selected objects only,
[Custom] exports any rectangular area of the canvas, on or off the page.

It seems that your selection is not square, so width and height can't be the same. Perhaps use the [Custom] tab or change the page size to 96x96 and then export the page.

Thanks Paddy, for your help. I need to remove this question and go back to a simpler question which is related. So I will be making a new post which I believe expresses more clearly the issue. Thanks.

Never Mind I think I see what you mean. I will have to play with it more tomorrow, but I think you are right. Thanks.

    Hallo

Hab jetzt bald 10 min gesucht wo ich meine Frage stellen kann, find nix. Also bitte meine Frage ins richtige Forum stellen. Danke. Also Seitenbreite 21 cm. Das Bild 21x cm breit es soll aber nur 18 cm breit sein.
