I wish to create a negative image of some PCB artwork. I need to convert the black areas to white and vice versa. How do I do this?

Not sure about PCB artwork - is it a raster image? If so go Filters->Color->Invert...

Note that Filters->Color->Invert... will work regardless of whether it's a raster or not. If it's a vector image made up of several parts it will be easier to group them all first.

But there's a big caveat: filters are a raster effect applied at the point of rendering your image. They do not alter the underlying geometry or data of the vector objects. If your requirement is just to export an inverted PNG this should work fine. If, however, the SVG file has to go to another program that expects black and white fills on the vector objects, filters won't do the job. In that case Extensions > Colour > Negative should do the job.

Pal. not sure if answering your query after so long is useful to you. but i found this to be effective

while conveting a raster to vector, you typically use 'Path -> Trace Bitmap' . here you get an option to 'Invert image' checkbox which you can 'Enable' to get the inversion.Β

Hope its of use to someone out there...

Hi @prasan, I tried what you said on my PNG file, but it just made the whole image black. This is the image I want to reverse black-white:Β https://s.work180.co/employers/us/radicle-labs-inc/radicle-labs-inc_Logo.pngΒ

    Any suggestions?

@jingu go Filters->Color->Invert: as XAV already mentioned.
