Beginners' Questions import and update

    i have been using inkscape for at least a year and today i cant import a dxf file   my entire screen looks dif ( maybe an auto update )  i dont know what is diff  i lack great computer skills and am getting frustrated  thanks for the help

    Describe your OS & version, the version of Inkscape and the installer you used.

    this laptop is about 3 months old and has windows 10 and i downloaded the version from the website  i used that for 3 months then last nite instaed of the inkscape icon there was a file and that showed 4 icons  i tried to import a dxf that was created on inkscape and it wouldnt   so after a while i uninstalled inkscape and downloadedd 0.91 and it seemed like the screen wasnt completely in focus  it did the same thing when i tried to import a dxf    not sure how to look up info on what i originally had or how i losded it

    I haven't heard of the four-icons thing.  By any chance are you using Windows 10-"S"? That is the version that uses programs from the Windows store. 

    If you are going to use an earlier version, I suggest the .92.3 from the Inkscape.org website.

    If you want, you can create a zip file of your dxf file and attach it to a message here. we can look to see if that's ok.

    i have windows 10 home   i know i said this but everything worked fine for a couple months  i uninstalled my program and then installed 92.3  when i try and import i get " inkscape has received additional data  the box says file"dxf_input.py", line530,in<module>

    The full message has the info: the dxf version is incompatible.

     

    LibreCad is a free program that can easily convert the version. Open in LibreCad, save. Open in Inkscape.

    I tried to open a dxf file that i created in inkscape and it wouldnt open that either and it was working  just feel like i did something to the laptop   i also have a question about how to do something in inkscape have watched severl youtube videos but cant figure it out   do i ask here or do i need to start a new comment ?
