Having learned about Inkscape's paths and layers my first job is to make an A4 label template (for Avery self adhesive labels: 21 labels per sheet, to be printed through my injjet).
I will have quite a few text layers sat on top of a layer for the grid which represents the labels. I will of course only have one text layer switched on at a time.
So my first job is to set the ruler co-ordinates so that the top-left corner of the top-left label is zero on both the X and Y coordinates, and then I can create horizontal and vertical lines of the correct measurements to form a grid and then put the text (name and address) in each box.
Having used SVG programs (Freehand and then Illustrator) up until Adobe became IMO extortionate I have previously found setting the coordinates to zero on appropriate points in the workspace an easy task. But no matter how much I "click around" I can not for the life of me see how to do it in Inkscape.
Hi everybody,
I have just started to try and use Inkscape.

Can anyone help?
