I looked around an found that if you use select too an control+F1 you can rotate the gradient. For me its not working on any svg I open. I set the gradient to fill alpha pick gradient then the colors. Then use select tool on the svg object hit ctrl+f1 an it just moves the full object. I want to set it at about a 25 degree angle or at least / <- forward/backslash. I also know if you click the object two times you can rotate but yeah it just rotates the full object not the gradient.
I'm brand new to inkscape I'm trying to replace affinity designer since I've mainly switched back to linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The gradient tool (or node tool) can be used to snap the gradient handles to a guide. The guide can be set with precision by double clicking the guide.

Thank you it was the node tool for what I wanted.
