I'm sure that this is something basic that I'm missing, but I am having no luck combining two paths, in a way that seems to usually work.ย I have a path created by doing a union of two circles to make a basic ornament shape.ย Now I want to add some support.ย So I created some bezier curves on either side of it.ย I'd like to combine these all, so that the little psuedo triangles I've created are removed, and there is just a smooth transition between the two circles.ย When I use Union, it does not behave the way I'd expect.ย Instead of removing the part I want removed, it adds a new segment...ย ย
I've searched online, read the help to see if I could find something, and searched here.ย I'm on inkscape 1.2.1, upgraded from previous versions.ย Using Windows 10.ย ย
Thanks!ย Bezier was set for the shape to be none.ย Here's the file, I'd appreciate any pointers in the right direction.ย I'll upgrade now and try again.

It may be that the bezier pen tool is set to a shape. I'd ensure shape is set to none.
The latest Inkscape version 1.3.2 is a big advance from the 1.2.x series. I suggest updating at the earliest opportunity.
Feel free to share theย Inkscape file, if you would like it evaluated.

I was getting strange artifacts with other methods, so I went this way:
Thanks, that looks like a much better way to do it anyway!
Perhaps a quicker way:
