Beginners' Questions Bitmap Tracing to Vector (Lineart) with whitespaces as Polygons

    I come from the Corel and Adobe world where scanning in CorelTrace or Adobe Streamliner would produce a clean Vector Line Trace where all the white spaces come out as Polygons. In Inkscape, although I get a nice Line Trace, I cant seem to figure out how to get the white spaces to come out as Polygons. Any ideas?

    Thanks for the reply. I hope this attachment helps clear up what I am trying to do.
    I really like Inkscape (and GIMP) and trying to get away from Adobe and Corel.

    You need to trace for at least 2 colors and adjust the color for the fill (not the outline shape):
