Multiple entries are welcome, and please do stick around for the chat!
All abilities are invited to get involved. The complexity of your entry is down to you.
Please post your finished artwork below.Â
IMPORTANT: If you would like to know what you could do to improve your artwork, add the phrase to your comment: "Brutal Feedback" --- only for those with nerves of steel! (Please include a brief description of your process, difficulties you have experienced and your desired outcome).
Because of limited resources, moderators may not always be able to give feedback.
To submit your artwork, scroll to the bottom of the page and while logged in, click the paperclip (bottom-left) to upload your image, add a description in the text box (optional) and click "Submit Reply".
If you'd like to post work-in-progress artwork, create a thread in the "Work in Progress" section of the forum, and post your images there, with the title "[Month] [Year] [Challenge Title] WIP - [your artwork title]" (you are welcome to ask for help there if you get stuck). When finished, post the final graphic to this thread.
There are no winners (HOWEVER, YOUR ARTWORK SUBMISSIONS ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED INTO THE INKSCAPE ARTIST OF THE MONTH CONTEST). These challenges are intended to inspire, to encourage you to share your work and to build a supportive community.
If you post your artwork here, you agree for us to share your artwork and use your artwork to create a banner (in the event that you win Artist of the Month) - to opt out, add "Please don't share" to your post.
You're encouraged to discuss and offer feedback/constructive criticism to others, but please be respectful.
Most importantly, be creative, give your best, and have fun!
Welcome to the Inkscape challenge and to the forum. That's a fun graphic, thanks for sharing.
I don't know if you are aware, but we hold new challenges each month. Multiple entries are welcome and chatting about the entries is encouraged. For anything off-topic, we also have the Challenger Chat thread.
For this poster I got inspired by Paula Scher. I used for it a photograph of The Katlehong Footlockers (RSA) by photographer Matthias Luggen: https://www.flickr.com/photos/buskersbern/43928172612 Further, I just "played around" with only two fonts: Nexa Rust Slab and variations of the Franklin Gothic family. If you need more information about this work, feel free to ask me. Funny fact: If you google "615 WHITE SULPHUR RD., GAINESVILLE GA", it will lead you to The New Haven Congregational Holiness Church. It's a puritan church in one of the most conservative, white dominant communities of the U.S. -great place for such a party, huh?đ
Bit map tracing of a low resolution stock image, lots of interpolating, extruding paths in perpective, some clipping and ofcourse searching and thinking of a made up character. -The Marquee doesn't exist any longer. Dandelion Records was founded by John Peel and was defunkt in 1972. I include a detailed image from the letters. There was long hours of working to get the interpolated lines look good and "natural" in perspective as I kept changing the thickness of those.
@pacer @mrks9 Thank you both guys! You keep up with your great works and techniques! Mark, I've seen most of the films your're listing.𤊠Pacer, clipping is powerful and very handy!đ
For this one, first, I duplicated a picture of Monaco. I then clipped the upper image using the word "Monaco" and applied a blur effect to the other one using the blur controls. Next, I generated a halftone image from a photo of an F1 racing car. I achieved this by shaping it from the tiled clones of a tiny square. Finally, I added the logo used for car plates in Monaco. Here is a clip demonstrating how the tiles were created: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9dSAzKWAK8
@pacer You're absolutely right about the third party images. Thanks for reminding me! Yes, the blur on Inkscape 1.3 with the controls is really great! I love it!
@mrks9 Haha Marcos, I just logged in to upload two new works and guess what.... I also had a Punk Rock theme in my mind!đ So, you can imagine my surprised face when I saw your work!đ§ Nicely done, mate!đŻ
Inspired by Punk Rock (hey, I grew up with The Clash, The Pistols,...), the Obama Hope Poster (Shepard Fairey) and Andy Warhol, I came up with this work here. So, please, forgive me for "the finger"!đ I used two images to compose it: -The lady: https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-wearing-chain-necklaces-and-a-choker-10179787/ -"The finger": https://www.pexels.com/photo/hand-of-woman-with-pink-manicure-showing-her-middle-finger-up-gesture-4379966/ No same shade of colour was used twice. I include two versions.
Here's a final one. A chunk of 80's and a large slice of 90's-00's with the flavour of contemporary "NU RETRO". -The cool guy:Â https://www.pexels.com/photo/man-looking-up-in-black-leather-jacket-wearing-sunglasses-8718341/ 1.Removed background. 2.Applied two color filters (Quadritone Fantasy & Nudge CMY). 3.Traced the image to get his silhouette, so I could clip the part of his head infront of the light-trail. -The light-trail: Stroke and then applied LPE Power Stroke to get the desired shape and flow. I made 4-5 copies of it of slightlty different width and shade of color. -Pattern: Triangles 3

Hello everyone, I haven't been around here for quite some time. Hope everyone is well!
I saw this challenge at the beginning of the month and wanted to enter, but time got away from me and I've only just managed to sneak in at the end.
I like making maps, and thought I could make a travel poster incorporating a map. The map part was easy but it was looking awfully bare towards the top right. So, in a fit of utter madness, I decided to add a train. I know next to nothing about steam trains, and this type of drawing is waaay out of my comfort zone, but I gave it my best shot...! đą It was a fun image to work on, and it's nice to post here again.
There are some wonderful entries this month! I especially like @Inkonic 's 'Stop & Listen' poster, and the Bauhaus image by @mrks9. Great work, folks!
@z3z Good to see you back here. I love everything about this image, the illustration, the color palette, the typography. Great work, thanks for sharing it here đŻ

@mrks9 Another Great entry. I love the composition. It is very Marcos.

For this poster I have been inspired by the Bauhaus school style đ

@Inkonic Great work, thanks for sharing.
Film Noir. A small montage with silhouettes and trace bitmaps.
@Inktonic
@mrks9
Some very nice posters so far. Nice work. Thanks for the awesome entries!

@Inkonic I like this one a lot. I love how you integrated the figure with the 3D text.
@inkonic Great work. It has a really nice vintage look đŻ

Very nice @Inktonic !
If you have time, could you add links to the 3rd party graphics.
My favorite part is the Monaco lettering and the surrounding blur... It looks very smooth!
Â
@pacer You're absolutely right about the third party images. Thanks for reminding me!
Yes, the blur on Inkscape 1.3 with the controls is really great! I love it!
Third party images that I've used for the "monaco" poster:
-Monaco:Â https://pixabay.com/photos/monaco-city-port-yachts-building-4564079/Â
-F1 Racing Car: Mercedes-Benz Group AG, LAT Images for Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd: https://twitter.com/MercedesAMGF1/status/1508149340149329925
I had no ideas, so I started playing with negative space in letters and came up with this đ
Although musically I am a Metalhead, I like the graphic side of the Punk movement đ

It's based on a bit of advice i got from a person who worked where the additive was discovered.
@z3z Good to see you back here. I love everything about this image, the illustration, the color palette, the typography. Great work, thanks for sharing it here đŻ
Last entry. A fictional concert I would love to assist to. đ¸đ¤đ

@z3z Hi z3z. Beautiful work!đŻ I love the Art Deco flavour!đ
@inkonic Thanks! I'm a big fan of the art deco style. đ
