    I LOVE INKSCAPE!!!!
I use it everyday for something. Sometime I even use it as Word Processor.

I use it on Windows, Mac, and Linux. I am hoping to eliminate Mac and Windows from my life and go Fully Linux soon.

The community is also AMAZING!!!! Several things I couldn't figure out and asked for help with, were answered like Dr. McCoy in "Spock's Brain".
"It's so easy a child can do it!"

I have ONE ISSUE that drives me crazy. Every time I open Inkscape, I have to rearrange my windows to my favorite layout.

Open a new file, you have to do it all over again.

I keep most of my tools on my Laptop monitor while my workspace is on a seperate monitor. Except for having to recreate this window layout everytime I start up.InkScape this works great.

Is there any way that InkScape can be made to remember my window layout as a default? Preferable in each document, so I can switch machines and still have the same results.

I know it's not THAT simple. If it is in the Document it would need to be ignored on machines with a different monitor layout.

But it would make a NEARLY perfect tool, better.

Is this any better in the very latest versions of Inkscape? I ask because this feature was developed many years ago and we think it's been lost in the recent versions. But perhaps it's back after the new dialogs work.

Not that I've seen. I imagine it's not that easy to do given that is would have to be implemented slightly differently for all the Commercial OS, and then for whatever Window manager is being used under Linux.
