Beyond the Basics Convert object to path not working as expected

    Hello all ...

I'm re-acquainting myself to Inkscape after a little break.

I am working on this graphic.  I had converted most of it to paths some time ago.

There is a part of it that I cannot figure out how to get converted to path.

It is the center tail feather.

The two outside feathers are paths. Why can't I get the center feather to convert.  Object to path does not appear to work,

Is it locked or something like that?  I could just redraw it with Bezier, but want to find out why.

I'm sure I am overlooking something.

    Thanks for checking ...

    Bob

The object is a rectangle filled with a pattern. I'd use menu: Objects>Patterns>Pattern to object.

    Thanks.

I have no idea how a pattern got in there!

I've done your suggestion, but still don't have a path.

    The pattern is still there.

I'll give it a little time to figure it out., then I'll just trace a new feather.

    Thanks again ...

OK, I finally got it to work.

Sort of understand the pattern thing.  Not sure how that happened.

My first few attempts did not convert, but finally got it.

    Thanks

    Bob
