    klein klein @klein

    good day

i am having problems running the latest appimage.

when i try to render a gear i get:

    Inkscape 1.0.1 2020-09-07 Inkscape-3bc2e81-x86_64.AppImage (sig)

    Inkscape-3bc2e81-x86_64.AppImage

Fatal Python error: Py_Initialize: Unable to get the locale encoding

    ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'encodings'

Current thread 0x00007fba962f0740 (most recent call first):

tried it on ubuntu mate 18.04.5 64bit

and sparkylinux 5.13 64bit i get the same error message

    so i downloaded Inkscape 1.0 2020-05-01 Inkscape-4035a4f-x86_64.AppImage (sig)

and i got the same error again.

if i open a terminal and start python3 i can import encodings without a problem at all

in both ubuntu mate 18.04.5 64bit and sparkylinux 5.13 64bit.

can this be fixed without changing the os ?

I would uninstall and try the PPA version.
