Beginners' Questions Should I consider this a normal workflow to print?

No luck searching this topic on the site so I've created a new topic.

Regarding print quality. If I print from Inkscape the quality is very pixelated regardless of my printer settings so I opened the .svg in Gimp, selected 50px/mm and set scaling, saved as .png, printed and it looked great. Should I consider this normal workflow or is there a quicker way there? Previously I opened the .svg in Cricut, printed from there and it looked great too but it seems Cricut only brings in solid colors. No blur, fade, etc from the original work.

Also, .png worked but is there a preferred image format when converting from a .svg?

Probably doesn't matter but FYI 99% of the thinks I print will be small, 100mm x 50mm max with lots of fine details

    Thanks

That's not an optimum or desirable workflow.

Inkscape is notorious for its poor print output, at least for those of using non-linux systems. The normal workflow for us is [File > Save a Copy...] [filetype: *.pdf] followed by printing from your favourite pdf viewer.  It's not ideal but more efficient than what you're doing now.
