Is there a way to get a raster image that I have brought in to act like it's multiplying for its blend mode. I'm working with the image of a broken digital screen and want to set it so the black becomes transparent and the color lines and cracks stick in the image. I can easily do this in another program but for future reference I was wondering if there was a quick way to do this within Inkscape itself. Sample image I'm trying to use linked here
Select the image and open the Fill and Stroke dialog [Object > Fill and Stroke] or [shift+ctrl+f]. In the lower right corner of the panel change the dropdown to [Blend mode: Multiply].
Sadly, that was the first thing I tried and what came up when I was googling an answer but there was no visual change between Normal and Multiply modes.
Thanks for your help, it was a slightly different issue than I thought.
The Image I was trying to set to multiply was clipped by another object to fit on the canvas and it was having weird interaction and selection issues with the group it was sitting in. I grabbed the entire group and set it to multiply and it finally worked the way it should have.

You need a background object the mode can calculate against:
