How do I order objects to overlap each other and not have transparency issues? For instance, I want the bell on this lighthouse to be on top of everything else, and I don't wish to see anything through it. For some reason the ceiling of the glass tower's undercarriage manages to show through everything.

The objects have transparency in the gradients.

NB Inkscape initially sets gradients as solid to transparent... it looks like solid to white when working over a white background.

    Thanks Tyler Durden,

That seemed to solve for the bell. But what the heck is going on with the solar panels against the backdrop of the tower? I don't have gradients established for those objects under the "Windows and Panels"--just straight fills. You can probably see how the guard rails are supposed to be on top of the panels, but the panels are supposed to be covering the backdrop. I thought about re-drawing the object around the panels, but that makes it harder to form general shapes and arcs for the image. Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

The Solar panels also have transparency.

Oh now I see. You can't make those adjustments from the Wheel tab under Fill and Stroke. You have to select HSL or HSV

Hi, have a side question. Had found the opacity (Alpha) is low, but am wondering how it gets set that way when OP was drawing the panel. Is there some use tool setting involved?

    Thank you

    👍

If opacity/transparency is used, the next tool use will also, if the tool setting is set to "Last used style".

Color wheels usually have an alpha channel slider below the wheel, in the Fill/Stroke dialog.

Aha thank you. Explains it in my usage, tend to lower opacity for aligning purposes and such, not thinking about it affecting new objects.
