I am new to Inkscape and enjoy creating things.

Lately I realized that I cannot snap a line tangent to a circle. The line is at a random angle.

I am trying to move the line close to the circle until it snaps to it tangent. What am I missing? Is this such a difficult thing to do?

I tried every snap options but nothing...

P.S. another question will be to snap a circle to another circle?

No - just nodes to nodes or Bounding box to bounding - but no collision detection like in VectorStyler.app.

This is while you are creating. I am asking after you created some randomly oriented line (anywhere), move it and position it tangent to a circle.

Inkscape can't snap curves to curves tangentially. Here's a workaround for circle to path snapping.

First, note the diameter of your circle.
Create a clone of the path.
[Path > Path effects...] [Offset] [Offset: diameter/2]
[Snap] [Nodes] [Paths]
[Snap] [Other points] [Object midpoints]

Now you can move the circle tangentially along the curve. Delete or hide the clone when you're finished.

I don´t see the problem here:

I understood what is my problem.

You are right. When I use the "Node Tool" and select a node, I can attach the line to tangent by moving the node and it snaps tangentially.

But, when I select the line using the "Select Tool", I cannot attach the line tangentially. But by using the Select tool the line, yes snaps to other kinds of points.

This seems to me like a bug (or something not consistent from user experience perspective).

Thanks Polygon! I thought Inkscape was broken. Now using the node tool it makes sense!
