Hi ALL. Tried everything (Snaps, PPA )and nothing works for me. I'm in my 70's and all is new to me.. Can somebody please point me in to download page where I be able to download and install working versions of either 0.91 or 0.92. I'm trying to build an egg painting robot, the Eggbot script will work only with those versions as I understand. Thank you

Thank you for this. Unfortunately two of the top links send me to Snaps and PPA's I cant do nothing with those. Two bottom links directed me to the newest version of Linux. As I mentioned in my original post I can use either V0.91 or 0.92. Thank you for your time.

    Maybe this: https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/ubuntu/stable/+packages

    EDIT:

Although, I did find this on the Eggbot site:

    Linux[edit]

The EggBot extensions for Inkscape have been developed and tested extensively under Ubuntu. We expect them to work equally well in most Ubuntu derivatives and other distributions where Inkscape is known to work. However, we do not have the capability to test every distribution. If you are unsure if your distribution will work, try to install Inkscape, and see if it appears to launch and run correctly. (We do also have python-based command-line tools available to run the AxiDraw, even on systems where Inkscape is not supported.)

    Working with Inkscape 1.1.1:

    • Install Inkscape 1.1.1 on your computer. Where possible, we recommend to install via the appimage. For some Linux distributions, installing Inkscape may require looking up distribution-specific information. See here for additional information.
    • Launch Inkscape, and select Edit > Preferences from the menu, and then select the System entry. That should list the location of your User extensions directory.
    • Download and unzip the software in this ZIP archive. Copy its contents (approximately 33 items including 2 subdirectories) into your Inkscape User extensions directory and relaunch Inkscape. Make sure that you copy all of these files, not just some of the files, and not just a folder containing these files.

Is there another specific plugin for the Eggbot that you are needing to support, or does Mint not play well?

Sorry folks, none of those suggestion work. I cannot use other version of the inkscape because the eggbot script is modified and will not connect to board (Arduino uno). So, I keep digging. Thanks again for your efforts.

@Bronek Hi. Have you tried flatpack? It works as an executable in Windows, you just have to give it permissions. It's simple, but I leave you a little video of how to do it. You can have as many versions as you want with this method.  https://inkscape.org/release/all/gnulinux/flatpak/  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpy_2D4l_io

Thank you Marcos.  I need something that will work with Linux Mint. I do have the Windows version on my desktop and is working fine with DIY Eggbot..

What version of Linux Mint are you using? 0.92.5/0.92.4 is probably the easiest to install. On linux mint 20, `sudo apt install inkscape` will install 0.92.5.

You should also be able to build 0.92.5 from scratch too, using similar build instructions for 1.x (though the build dependencies will differ).

You can also download flatpak versions, see https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/4113

Hi Nathan, Thank you for suggestions, tried the sudo apt.... and there are no options to install 0.92 version. It did install the latest version, I cant use it.  Will try the flat pack next. Thanks.
